OH - now that's just WRONG

When was the last time we had to look at an ars back-end?

My BOINC box is now 100% Leiden - got to find some more GHz somewhere.

    You said it Haggis

no way we should be looking at the Arse of Ars.

Biologically and DClogically the Ars is always at the backend.
Alas poor Borg, I knew it Horatio

Thanks guys. I've still got some reserves I could chuck on and will if need be. (the linux client needs a little extra work due to the use of shared libraries, but it's not too difficult)

Good to see some other guys on it though. rjkc4, good to see you too, I definitely need to email you soon, I've been remiss in keeping in touch with people recently..

And if we need to rumble..... you know rjkc4 will be there with all of you.

I have been really busy too my friend, Bok. No worries. I hope all is well and we will talk soon.

    rjkc4

PS How can I get to your stats for this project? If you have done them.

    Thanks.

Almost - they're having a problem with the homogeneous redundancy (assigning WUs to the same class of CPU only). It appears, for example, the AMD single and dual cores are in the same "class" but return different results.

So - if your single core result is the odd man out against 2 dual cores, your WU won't validate. I've got a big percentage of 0.00 scores.

Well we've noticed you want a battle. I'm up for it, as are a few other Arsians.

    BUT

Yup, there's a caveat. The project isn't ready for this and the project admin, who I've been corresponding with privately has asked that I hold off from opening the flood gates. We're remaining on tick-over just now. The client appears pretty stable now, and work unit supply is just about steady. Thing is, it's not got a proper server, it's running from the admin's PC.

I think it shows a bit of respect to hold off from really hitting the project until such time as it isn't run off the admin's personal computer.

The time-frame for the project to graduate from alpha status is a week to a fortnight, all things going well.

When it is ready, I'm up for a battle. But not until then. I'm just keeping a few PCs on it, nor are we really ramping up. Yet.

So PCZ, may as well protect your stats on BBC CPDN in the mean time.

But we also don't want the ars' sneaking in a larger lead -

We'll be keeping an eye on you!

I agree with Angus, ARS will just sneak ahead whilst we hold back.

    BTW
The Admins PC is doing a fine job.

    *shakes head*

Phased_Array is standing down for the moment. A few of us are still going to be running this, but not really pushing it. Said admin's machine has been down a couple of times.

We expect you to ramp up and pass us just now. I mean, you gotta pick on the small projects, especially when you're getting your asses handed to you on a plate in the bigger ones, right? :P

erm, isn't phased array standing down due to the errors popping up on his corporate clients machines.....? Nothing really to do with stopping due to wishes of the project.

I know, as I said a few times, you have to go for the small projects since you can't cut it on the big ones. I understand...

Phased_Array having errors was part of it, but that is fixable. If you don't believe me about the project admin asking me to hold back, feel free to email him yourself.

It's also the reason I'm not deploying on my work farm.

When the project is ready, we'll fight you. But not until then.

If you want a fight now, try keeping up your BOINC production AND match ours in either Folding or GIMPS or SOB. Or y'know, all three at the one time.

Thanks for the heads up and concern for this project.
It's quite apparent that most of our members here are not interested in Folding, GIMPS or SOB.
There is no denying you folks have a massive membership over there which could turn out some good numbers in this project.
We look forward to when Ars decides to join in the fun and have a nice rumble in this project.
Crush us if you can, it's all in the fun and better for the project to.

I guess the ars idea of "backing off" is to post their highest production day yesterday.

    Lol

the bit I like is they always seem to mention the projects that have been running forever and they have a healthy lead on, just like The Cows.

It's "we want to take you on but only on our home turf with our rules."

Nothing like stacking the deck before playing.

You're right. Why don't they fight us at Rosetta@Home, DPAD, eOn, DIMES, Riesel, PSP, SIMAP, etc, etc.

I've gone back to Rosetta where we are losing ground, until there is a real threat...
wolf! wolf! wolf! The sky is falling! The sky is falling!
Nothing to see here, move along...

  27. #27
A team crazy enough to try to take you on DIMES or Rosetta? I can't think of a team that's crazy enough to even try that. Oh wait...

Is that a gauntlet glove I see you with?
    DIMES is ours now!
Rosetta, we'll be coming back from our mighty impressive ramp up in DPAD pretty soon...

  29. #29
My DIMES is out of action this week, and I should be able to finally get another rig running, and get a good amount of RAM in that one. We're also hoping that one of our 100k+ producers that's been MIA will come back once Jeff passes him for tenth place.

We'll have to wait and see.
