Sorry if my question seemed obtuse.

I have a friend who isn't on the Internet, but that I want to get involved in DCing. If someone could describe the pitfalls and solutions I will face if I sneakernet him and give him his own username, that would be helpful. I'm hoping to get him involved with a per hour local hosting service, but I fear they may all be a long distance call away for his modem.

Basically, I'm wanting to know things like how a test needs to go unupdated before it decides it's expired, sneakernetting rules so that I can update his "session" without interfering with my own SOB stuff, etc.

Thanks in advance.

Sneakernetting in SoB is not easy so I've heard. Personally haven't tried it but seen many threads where it's more a waste of time than anything.

Also, I believe once you haven't reported back with a status update in 10 days your points are dropped off and I think the test can be reassigned. Don't quote me on that but that's roughly what I remember Bok saying at one point.

for the first pass tests i believe it is 90 days but ten may be correct for the current ones. We should be back to the frontline within a week or 2 anyways. The sneakernetting is also difficult but it can be done easily with factoring and sieving. All that needs to be be done is an occasional (every month or two - could be much less often but its best to check in ) send in a single text file. These files are very small. If you are trying to factor you'll need to submitt factors as soon as they are found but since all you need is a single factor your friend could just call you and tell you the factor and you could submitt it for him. You could also take care of reserving ranges for him. If you wanted to do factoring you could also reserve a fairly large block a few months ahead of the PRP line and allow him to collect 20 or 30 factors (this saves 20 or 30 tests) This would make sneakernetting him much easier. All you'd need to do to get started is download the programs, put them on a disk and give them to him. (plus reserve a range and let him know what it is)
